If the fin was an arm, the blood is around the armpit. It's been there around a day or two, but it was only tiny the first day so I didn't think anything of it. It's bigger now.

What should I do? It looks a bit sore. I'm not sure how he did it.

Please help, I can't bare Frogger being in pain :(

D -

My fish has had it for ONE DAY. It's about a MM wide, and it's also half past 9 at night. The vets are shut.

I'm so sick of idiots like you, who come on here to abuse people who genuinely care and are worried for their pet.

It's such a small injury that I don't know whether it'll go away on it's own, and whether transporting it to a vet will be more stressful for it.

Why don't you sod off back under your little rock, D, and grow the f*ck up.

Seriously, why don't you f*ck off and die?

In the tank are 2 other cory catfish, of which Frogger is the smallest but they're all peaceful and happily lie together.

Also there is a small shoal of neon tetras, but they are more scared of Frogger than he is of them! They all get on fine.

I cleaned the tank a few days ago, and put a log back slightly nearer the front than before, I think perhaps he's got himself caught in there?

He seems happy to me, he's eating fine and is currently hogging an algae wafer as usual, and it doesn't seem to affect his ability to swim.

Don't rush out and by medicine.
It sounds like an injury, except it is getting worse. Make sure that nothing is picking on it.

If it is a bacterial infection, then you need to determine the cause. If there is a build up of organic waste in the gravel, the corys get the worst of it, since they lie on it. Don't expect the corys to keep the gravel clean, they don't eat poo. ;-) If the illness is due to environmental stress, medicines won't help until after those issues are dealt with.

Check to see if the medicines are harmful to corys. I don't think straight anti-biotics will harm them, but some medicines do. Be safe. Avoid salt, corys don't like it.

And, yeah, D is an idiot. Vets don't do corydoras medical clinics, they can't really help. Aquarium fish illnesses are more environmental than physical. It is an enclosed system and waste builds up in a lot of different ways. You should always think of the aquarium being ill before the fish. If the tank is healthy then worry about the fish. Think of it as a space shuttle with astronauts. If life support is on the fritz, then a case of the sniffles is the least of your worries.

lulz D, and how would a vet take care of a tiny fish in the water? Get a LIFE and stop ranting at people.

but yeah, you can go to a pet store and ask for advice there and they have all kinds of drops. Not much you can do really.

At the pet store they have antibiotics for fish, you just put a few drops in the water. Or try 1800Petmeds.com.
