There was an article on lock bumping break ins, but here in AZ we have had a lot of crimes where the guy enters with the express purpose of victimizing children or young women.

Please don't think of alarms as just protection for your tvs and stereos.

When you are in the jungle it is not good to look like food.
These types of predators are basically cowards who pray on what they perceive as easy targets.
Don't be a target.
The police normally respond to a crime after it happens.
If you live in a bad area protect yourself and loved ones.
Minimally carry some potent pepper spray and be ready to use it if necessary. It is small, portable, and some bad stuff that is non lethal. It will give an assailant something else to think about while you make your escape. Most pepper sprays have a dye that will color the assailant so the police might be able to identify and apprehend them if they respond quickly enough.

There are many reasons a person could break in to a place. Stealing stuff, attacking people, spying, and stealing identity information are just a few.

I do not believe there is a crime wave of people breaking into houses to victimize children and young women, but it does happen. An alarm is a good investment if you get it from a good company.
