I'm thinking about going at the end of the month, but I have some questions. Is it expensive? Will I be alright only knowing English? Are the people friendly? What is the night life like??

I went there in summer 2004 and I found it amazig. everyone in scandinavia speaks an excellent english ( I'm italian) so you'll surely be fine. stockholm is a lively, multicultural city. it's called "the venice of the north (of europe)" as it looks like our venice. as far as I can tell ( I spend there ony a couple of days) people are not as friendly as in norway or the usa. and yes, it's pretty expensive like the rest of scandinavia. I spend only one night there but I remember a lot of people all around. but it was summer,I don't know if it makes any difference.
wow, I envy you! enjoy yourself!

It might be quite cold in Stockholm this year, at least it seem to be that way this year. Yes Stockholm is expensive, but that doesn't mean that the rest of Sweden is expensiv as a lot of people believe.
You ask about the night life, well if you are a gay or lesbian, this is the place for you.
They do speak a peculiar English in Stockholm and I guess your English will do too.

Ihave been there but that was 1967.
At that time it was expensive. I I had 1000 DM in my pocket ( a German worker must work for that two month) and I felt as a very poor man.
Language will be no problem.
The people are friendly.
There will be no real nightlife. Don't try to contact a prostitute. You !!! will be punished. Having a 1st class return ticket from Stockholm to Hamburg wil be cheaper.
Overall --- Sweden is a nice country, but only for puritans.
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
Heinz
