It is true that a president cannot literally abolish an Amendment to the Constitution. But we have seen that they can indeed pass laws that are unconstitutional, and count on the time it takes to get a challenge through the courts to do some awful damage. How many of the Bill of Rights Amendments have been violated by the so-called "Homeland Security" measures? I'm not going to count them up myself; too depressing.

The only serious Constitutionalist running is Ron Paul.

It's not within the power of the President to 'abolish' an amendment. It would require a Constitutional amendment; that, in turn, takes a 2/3 vote by each house of Congress, and ratification by 3/4 of the states. I don't think that's very likely, even if Her Cankledness makes it to the White House.

Presidents cannot abolish amendments. Thank goodness for that.

Nor can a vote of Congress. Thank goodness for that. Constitutional amendments require the vote each of the Sovereign states. A little trickier to pull off, for good reason.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court can re-interpret our great Constitution, at will.

And the President nominates judges.

'Nuff said. Be afraid. Be very afraid. And vote wisely.

They are the same book with different Titles - though being the dems control congress maybe hillary would get it thru a little faster than giuliani but again both would manage to do it if elected

Obama or Edwards will show you differently once you switch to reading papers other than the New York ones.

Hillery has promised us right here on Yahoo! Answers that she would abolish the Bill of Rights so probably Giuliani would get the 2nd abolished first because he is only after one and Hillery wants to get rid of all ten.
