It's a very flawed question. Napoleon and Caesar would have no idea what to do with modern weaponry and equipment--they would have had no experience using it coming up through the ranks and would be at a loss as to what to do with it in a command situation.Without a lifetime spent learning and employing modern tactics at every level of command, they would be completely overmatched by a 20th Century General like Patton. One of Napoleans finest strategic manuevers proved an utter dissaster when Lee tried to employ it at Gettysburg when he sent Pickett's division up the middle to cut the Union line. Lee, a great General in his own right, was unable to adjust the tactic to account for Civil War era artillery, which he had been fighting with and against for a few years at that point. Napolean and Caesar would be even more lost.

I think Patton might have an easier time using Napolean or Roman era equipped armies, but even then, he would not be likely to be able to employ armies like that as effectively as Generals who had a lifetime of experience at it could.

Patton. His mastery of battle tactics was superior to either Caesar or Napoleon.

Patton in a heartbeat. If he could beat the Germans, he could beat anyone.
