I'm a store manager. I left my assistant in charge over my store overseeing a cashier. Later that night, I learned that the cashier draw came up short 450. The cashier claims he didn't take it stating that the manager had authority and password to his draws, he also said that she works under his number and counted his draw as well. I have a old store, but no cameras. I'm just goin off based on the report generated at the end of the shift. Do I have proof to fault him? He is on suspension doing the investigation. How do u investigate? Will it cause me a lot of money to prosecute? If I can't prosecute him, how can I seek justice? by the way, my assistant is white and the cashier is black, so? Help me!

Honestly unless you are willing to fire them both, you have to just take it as a loss.

Did you call the police, you should you were robbed. If they find someone guilty they will prosecute if there is enough evidence.

you can certainly fault the assistant since it was his responsibility.

if he is accusing the clerk, then he needs to come up with some proof. if he cant prove wrongdoing i'd say you need to fire the assistant for negligence.
