The rear box on the exhaust is packed with fibber's to deaden the noise from the engine. Sounds like time for a new exhaust.

Its the lining from the rear exhaust box - not overly pricely to replace!

it's glass fibre wadding. you need a new rear box. Nothing to do with the cat, they don't have anything in them apart from a ceramic waffle.

My hubby is a mechanic and he says it is wadding from your silencer box, you need to replace the silencer asap.

its the stuff used to silence the noise, if you pull it,( dont) it will keep coming out, had a woman into the police station one day saying someone had stuffed something up her exhaust lol....................
