Yeah sure, I mean I can't make a shirt from scratch but I made curtains out of an old blanket once and I'm not gay just wanted to block the light coming in the bedroom windows. Sewing a seam is easy or hemming a pair of pants I don't have a machine if I need anything big done I take it to a tailor or toss it and get a new one.

As salaamu 'alaikym warahmatullahi wabaraktuh, my sister and my friend.
Insha'Allah, I can do light (i.e., very light) mending such as buttons, re-sew a seam as long as the cloth is not ragged, hand swe a patch, etc.
Insha'Allah, on those days when I feel particularly ambitous, I have mended stuffed animals leaving a "clean and neat" scar.
Insha'Allah, one of the muslimahs at the masjid my daughter and I attend has a tailoring business and anything that requires skilled needle work goes to her and helps to support an Islamic business. Alhumdulillah!
ma'a salaam.

My hubby can, he can sew buttons on and take up trousers, he used to be a scout leader many years ago and had to learn how to sew so he could teach to the kids as badge work.

Most tailors in my country run and done by males; they are very good in this business. I used to run a boutique, my male workers are excellent, their job were very neat and did all the work so perfect. The girls just put on the button. They are also very good in doing embroidery. They are not gays (just in case somebody have that thought), they are just very good, better than females.

Sorry to come in on this one but I just had to say...
My guy is great at sewing (anything) and I'm hopeless so he does all the sewing jobs.
Oh, and I get the ironing because he's hopless at that:)
