Avoiding someone might be a "work of hay, straw, or stubble."

The exemplary definition is provided in James 2:15: "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?"

That's faith without works, which James explained is "dead" and "useless."

Doing something for someone unpleasant might well be gold and silver. The works of the Good Samaritan certainly fit that description--assisting a bloodied robbery victim at his own expense.

if we do something in a hurry to avoid someone, thats works of hay, but the last work is of silver and gold.
