Words can bruise my ego but ultimately nothing can take my confidence, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have a saying about words: "Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words, will break your heart". However, someone cannot take away something that belongs to you unless you give them permission to do so. No one can take away your confidence unless you let them. There is no question about the fact that words are powerful The problem with them is that we all use words without knowing exactly when they mean. Words can cause wars; they also can express profound love and caring. No one can take away my confidence no matter what they say or how "brutal" their words because at the very core of my being, I am solely responsible for my myself and i have confidence in myself., and you cannot take away either one unless I let you.

agree. People are so brutal... and Yes, their words can take away any little confidence I have lately! Depends on the mood I am in. At times, their pathetic little ways simply make me laugh...

Yes, what people say can really take a toll on you but don't let those words bother you, i know it's hard but some of these people don't really know what they are saying until someone confronts them about it, so yes confidence can take a hit from words.

I gotta say yes, that's what I've been dealing with for the last 12 years, and a big part of why I'm done! I don't like what he has done to me and my confidence so I've changed that before it's too late!
What is my boy up there talking about? Is he Bear's brother or something? lol

it depends on who is saying what but usually no words are just words we have to give those words (and people) the power to hurt us. Hold your head up high and don't let haters get you down! Next time someone calls you a name see it for what it truely is a desparate attempt from a sad person who is trying to knock you down a peg to make themselves feel better.

Depending on who the person is. If it was someone I admired & have a really close relationship with, then I would say yes.
Otherwise, the majority of the time, I really dont listen to what others say. All that matters is that I believe in myself & do what I gotta do to succeed in life, ignoring all those who are trying to bring me down.
A quote from girlfriends that always stuck with me: I'm rubber & youre glue, whatever you say to me bounces off & sticks to you! :)

you are right, but words are words and we have the power to let it eat us up or to let it roll off our shoulder and learn from it. people are vicious nowadays and you are right dont realize it or dont care.I live in the bronx and let me tell you people are some sort of crazy, I take it with a grain of salt and move on. I dont let words mess with my confidence. I know who I am.

Not really NY Chick. I'm a lot more articulate than most of the people I deal with. It would be easy to dole out a verbal spanking to anyone who tried to make me look like a fool.
