I'm planning on going to Las Vegas in the middle of December, but have no idea if I should fly or drive. Some people say it's safer to fly because of the snow storms in the desert, but others say it's cheapr to drive and not bad at all. Help! Who should I believe?

It depends on where you're driving from. I live 8 hours away from Vegas by car and I cannot stand 8 hours of flat, boring, endless desert, so prefer to drive (it's only an hour flight).
I have never heard of snow storms in the desert since it usually doesn't get cold enough to snow, but flying is pretty safe. If I were you, I would fly and not worry about the weather.

You could see snow anywhere down to about Cedar City, UT. After that you'd probably be fine but by then you're only a couple hrs from Vegas anyway. Honestly, I doubt there will any bad snow before Christmas and if you run into a little snow...you're from Idaho so you can handle it, right?

I'm from the Ogden UT area and we go to Vegas in the winter a lot. We always drive because I've heard horror stories about hours and hours at the Vegas airport. It's only six hrs from here, depending on how far up in ID you are, it's probly not that bad of a drive.

Fly... Driving across the desert can be a challenge, long and boring IMO.

Catch Southwest from Boise or Alegiant Air from Idaho Falls.

We're always MUCH more rested after flying.

much better to fly from idaho. The weather is unpredictable and driving can be dangerous. Take most of the worry out and fly!

Make sure you fly so you have more time in Vegas. It is safer to fly than drive.

If you are driving by yourself, then it's definitely cheaper to fly. With the price of gas, it cheaper to fly if you are traveling with less than four people. Also remember you will not need your car much when you get to Vegas.
