You can get only text based logos for free. Here are some websites that offer free logos

Do a search for free stock photography or imagery, and use those as a basis for your logo. Be sure to check their rules/guidelines to make sure that's allowed, though.

For originality and effect, you truly should design it yourself. See, for example, the article, "Creating a Web-Friendly Logo" (Recipe 5.2) on page 111 of the book Web Site Cookbook by Doug Addison.

Meanwhile, if you have ANY idea, beyond elements of your "company name," of what your logo should contain, look for hints at http://www.google.com/images and search for images by name or type
