ok i have a dilema.. i have a 14 month old daughter and we have a small apartment.. last year she was only 3 1/2 months old and we got a really pretty real one.. i hate fake trees.. growing up we never had a lot of money but my parents always made sure we had a real tree...
so i think we are going to get a real tree but a small one.. that way i can still have my real tree with lights and the whole wonderful smell but put it up an a table where she cant get to it and the pine needles cant get to her little feet... we usually put ti up the weekend after Thanksgiving on the first weekend of December.. Happy Holidays!

We always get the biggest real tree we can find, usually eight foot. Here's why:
1)They look better,
2) they smell better
3) (and most importantly) they're grown on plots specially for the purpose. While there's a call for real christmas trees the companies will carry on growing them for the years it takes them to reach the correct heights. If no one buys them, the companies sell up and the land gets built on and concreted over, so Q48x may not be entirely accurate in saying artificial trees are better for the environment (they're plastic and processed and won't biodegrade - our tree will be replaced by a new baby tree which (as long as we keep buying them) will be replaced by another).
Incidentally, we also have a christmas tree growing in our garden. One december, shortly after christmas we saw it liying by some bins. It was tiny but had its roots exposed and was still alive so we bought it home and planted it. It's now taller than the house! (I think it thanked us!) It's now surrounded by all our other trees. If you really want to save trees - grow them!

Hello .can't wait for christmas! We always have a real one. For some reason the whole family seems to go out and pick the best christmas tree!It sorta our lil tradition! It's really cute because we have a cat and it sometimes climbs to the top of the tree and gets on top of the angel! We usually put it up 2 weeks before christmas but this year my mum said that we could put it up 3 weeks before :P

Already decorated, small, and one with the lights already on.
Just me and the hubby this year, but that's OKay too! hee hee
Just try to remember to think GREEN for the environment.
We need to keep our trees! Save the OZONE layer...and we do need the OXYGEN... and shade to keep the temperature down on Earth...
I love all Christmas Trees no matter how they are decorated.
They are all just beautiful to me...
Last year I put up several all over the house...even outside...
but this year I am going to do a ~~grand finale~~
with MORE NEW christmas lights ...OUTSIDE...where I have a Camellia bush trimmed in the SHAPE OF A CHRISTMAS TREE!
I use timers to not waste energy.
I thougt about not doing the light thingy, but the kids, grandkids, and neighbors look me in the eyes and ask: when are you putting your lights up?
I chip at the GREEN at little at a time...I don't want to be a SCROOGE...so I give up the real tree as a sacrafice for the environment...for the pretty lights~

Blue Spruce or a Douglas Fir probably. I usually wait until about the second week in Dec. to put it up. Too early and it will be dropping needles before Christmas. I always take it down the first day of Jan.

I love Noble Fir's.
To me it just is the perfect christmas tree. The smell is just wonderful as well.
We usually put up our tree the first week of december. Although I've heard people shop for them the weekend after Thanksgiving.
This picture is almost exactly what our tree usually looks like. http://www.klmtreefarm.com/images/noble.jpg

I would only ever get a fake tree now.
A few years ago i was living in a flat and we got a lovely real tree but after xmas when it came time to throw it i had to hack it into little pieces to fit into the communal bins. It was awful, i felt like a murderess disposing of a body.
