A sign I see in secondary and provincial roads is "Bawal Umihi Dito". Hehehe.

Just like in any westen country. Except there are no "beware of raindeers crossing the road" signs in the Philippines.

Although numerous Philippine TV documentaries have revealed how ignorant most drivers in Manila are ignorant about traffic signs, they do exist.

In one of those documentaries (by GMA7) I remember a jeepney driver being showed a "merging lanes) sign and asked to tell what it meant. The driver scratched his head and said "Deretso lang yan, boss". Then a taxi driver was shown a "pedestrian crossing" sign (the one where an adult is crossing with a child behind). The cab driver confidently described it's meaning as "Ibig sabihin niyan, dapat alalayan ang mga bata pag tumatawid".

But, I think they are more strictly obeyed in the Makati business area than in any other place in the Philippines.

Yes they use the international signs, the same as in Europe and UK. The only problem is they are few and far between.

They are the same as in the States but in the Philippines they are "suggestions" not rules. So "STOP" really means "if you feel like it today, please halt your progress" "NO LEFT TURN" means "do not turn left unless you really need to " etc etc
