what would happen to a plant cell, if it was placed in pure water??..help?

Osmosis would occur as the plant cell took in water through the cell memebrane. The water will continue to enter the cell until a balance is reached called equilibrium. The water will plump up the cell and make it easier to see under a microscope.

Water would enter the cell and the cell would reach a turgid state.

It will swell. In other words it will become turgid due accumulation of water due to endosmosis.
