If the doc says he's gaining weight ok then he sounds fine. My son is on a similar schedule. He eats 5-6 oz every 3-4 hours. He's only 9 1/2 weeks old. My doc says to feed him when he is hungry. If he wants more, give it to him.

Hey, my doctor told me after I had done the same and only gave my daughter 3-4 oz per feeding to try putting 6-7 oz in a bottle. The baby will drink only till it is full and won't overfeed. I tried that and she was drinking it all at only 6 weeks. So I would try putting more in a bottle, she won't overfeed, just until she is full and then will stop sucking. Once I did this, she was sleeping longer and deeper.

my doc said 2.5 oz per pound per day. so a 10 pound baby needs 25 oz a day. So youre giving about that with 5 feedings. If he is over 10 pounds, he may need more.

No it sounds about the same as my babies. No babies are the same and some need feeding more than others. Also remeber that babies that small don not know what being greedy is so if he wants to feed he must be hungry. Hope this helps.

If he is eating it all he needs it. Babies will not allow themselves to overeat. Do not hold back on food for an infant or you will have a VERY cranky baby on your hands.
I jsut wanted to add that when you see a VERY obese baby, it means that they have a disorder, not that the parents are over-feeding.

i think as long as he is pooping and not throwing up, hes ok. my 2 mont old still drinks 2 oz and no more, but her growth is normal. they know when to stop eating and if hes throwing up a lot, give him a pacifier until feeding time

with children, there really is no right or wrong. diff't kids require diff't things and food is def something I never went by the rule book. my daughter didn't eat that much but my son just doesn't stop and he's not overweight. he is considered within the healthy range. therefore, just go by what your child asks for. you'll know...
