I think it doesn't make sense to spell things with an A when they are pronounced like a Y or E. Why give your kid the frustration of having her name mispronounced for her whole life?

Yasmin is pretty, but I don't think you're likely to get others to say it Yaysmin. And, IMHO, it sounds a little awkward with a long a. I'd stick to Yasmin, or choose another name.
My reservations are the same for Shonta. Spell it Shontae or choose something else. I like the idea of Yasmin Chantal. That's a great combo.

Yasmin Strong is a cool name. Shonta....not so much. Yasmin is kind of asian and exotic, and doesnt exactly work well with Shonta. Also, if it's a name that your kid is going to be constantly telling people how to pronounce or spell it, try to find a new one. They'll thank you.

Spell it how you want it pronounced, although I don't know how you would spell your version of Yasmin. You can spell Shonta as Shontay or Shontae or Shontaye. Since it's a middle name it is not as important, but please don't do your daughter the injustice of giving her a name that will always be misspelled or mispronounced.
If you want her first name to be Yasmin, spell it that way and pronounce it phonetically.

If you have to go to so much trouble explaining the pronunciation, I would vote against such a name. Yasmin as in actress Yasmine Bleeth is an OK name, but I do not prefer the different pronunciation.

Yasmin is a brand name of a birth control pill, so that's what I think of. Also, it's is the Muslim spelling and pronounciation, which could your child into detriment by people that are, well, anti-islam right now. Also, the middle name is just really strange and if you have to explain to people how it's pronounced, the kid will hate that when she gets older.

Yaesmin Shontay.
If you have to explain long and short vowels, and offers rules of grammar - the proposal is not a good name for a child.
Of any name that is an alteration, or alternate spelling, of a conventional name - I think the conventional wisdom would favor the conventional name or the traditional spelling.
Otherwise, spell it in a way that causes no confusion or embarasment.
