You will need a broadband connection (DSL or cable) to bring the Internet to your house. Normally you will have a modem at the end of that connection within your house that you use to access the Internet.

If you want wireless, you then have to add a device that connects to the broadband modem and broadcast its signal as a radio wave. That is called a wireless modem.

Finally, you need something to pick up that signal. That is a wireless adapter (or card) within the computer to receive the signal from the router.

Such as wireless signal is good for about 150 feet (or 50 meters).

The router will normally have 4 or more regular network ports that you can hook computers to with a cable also. (Note that using a cable can be up to 10 times faster then wireless - so if you can use a network cable, do.)

You need broadband (DSL or Cable) and a Wireless Router. Bestbuy has the WRT54G (which will work great for what you need) on sale for $49.99.

You will also need to Broadband Modem, which high-speed Internet packages usually come with.
