x^2=1/3
sqrt x^2 = sqrt 1/3
you cannot have a sqrt in a denominator so you must multiply by sqrt 3/sqrt 3 on right side giving you
+/-x = +/-sqrt 1/3 * sqrt 3/sqrt 3
+/-x = +/-sqrt 3/ sqrt9
x = +/-sqrt 3/3

Find the square root of 1/3.

If a similar questions like that come up. Just remember to do the opposite.

x + 2 = 3
- 2 -2

x = 1
