What is the area of a square inscribed in a circle with a radius 6?
How do you find this? Please explain step by step.

I have looked over and over in my study guide and i cant figure it out. I am doing home schooling haveing to teach my self and i really am not good in math. Thanks for the help in advance!!

Draw a picture!
A diagonal of the square is a diameter of the circle.
So a diagonal of the square is 12.
Now find a side of the square.
s²+s² =144 by Pythagorean theorem.
2s² = 144
s² = 72 = Area of the square!

Well.. if the raduis of the circle is 6... you'll know that the diameter is 12 meaning that is the diagonal of the square
so its kind of like a^2+b^2=c^2.

12 would be c and you have to make it squared making it 144.

Divide it by 2 and you will get a and b which is 72

Find the sqaureroot of 72 which is 8.49

Meaning each side of the square is 8.49 units long

This also means that the area is 72 units squared.

see when a sqaure is inscribed in a circle half it's diagnol length is equal to radius of the circle

now length of a diagnol of a square is 2^1/2a where a is the length of side of square therefore we get a=12/2^1/2
therefore area is a^2 that is 72

if the radius is 6, then the side of the square is 6, therefore the area is 36.

Area of square is 12 x 12 = 144

Subtract the area of the circle which is

A= pi r^2

A= 36pi

So its

144- 36pi
