how much am i able to refuse? and what laws could i use to back myself up, without getting arrested for being cheeky. And do they have to have a warrant if something they're lookin for cannot be seen on me.

Basically, if i have drink in my bag, can i stop them from searching it?

I am from the U.S., but the one thing I can say is that you don't have to be "cheeky," just say plainly "I do not consent to any search, but will follow any command you give me" in a very calm manner.
In the U.S. a big deal is whether the person consented to a search, and simply stating that will help you later. I imagine a good solicitor here will give you more specific advice, but the best I can say is:
Always, always do what the police tell you to do. Never, never volunteer to do more than you have to.
