Should they interpret the constitution strictly or should they adjust the constitution for our day?

The constitution should need no interpretation, the language is fairly simple. The supreme court was intended to rule on whether laws conformed to the requirements laid down in the constitution or not. According to the constitution it is not the decision of the court if a law is fair, or right, only whether or not that piece of legislation violates the constitution or not. In order to justify their position/power, the judiciary has, for the most part, assumed an activist role never intended by the founding fathers.

The US Supreme Court should do a bit of both. The Constitution should be taken as it was written, and not as inferred. Specific writing was chosen for a reason, lets remember. I would not take it so lightly as to wrongly, or even exceptional vaguely, word the laws of an entire nation.

But, The Supreme Court should also consider how the written law in the Constitution applies to The Nation today. That was one of the many ideas built into it, the ability for it to be changed as the country changes. If a law is paramount to the nation, then it must be left alone, and taken literally. But if the country is working towards something better than what is written (i.e. abolishing slavery, women's right to vote, etc.) then the applicable law(s) may need to be reevaluated.

It is all on a case by case basis. They should be looked up to for what they have to do. And I do think it is wrong for Presidents to appoint the Justices for political reasons. The Justices should be impartial and keep their own beliefs out of the job. They were not put there to uphold the laws they want to. They are there to uphold ALL of the laws, and to set precedent where needs be.

Supreme Court is the supreme authority to guard the Constitution to the Democratic values enshrined and to restore the laws in letter and spirit to protect the people rights ,liberties and the freedom!

Neither they interpret to their convenience nor they adjust to accept anything unlawful or illegal to down the values of this supreme democratic institution! They may face challenge and serious difficulties in execution of their noble service to the nation but that doesn't deter them in their dedication and devotion to the Constitution to protect the well being of citizens of the state!

Of course it also the duty of the citizens to continuously support and encourage the Judiciary for its activism and to be deadly committed to uphold the Constitution at any cost!

They should stick to the Constitution. A small group of people should never be in charge of adjusting our Constitution. That is fertile grounds for corruption and bias. That is why the document was made like it is.
