Only tuck pants into Ugg style boots. Never high heeled boots, it looks tacky.
There is only really one exception to the high heel thing and thats low ankle boots with skinny jeans, it acceptable then, but only nice ankle boots, not plain glossy black ones.

Depends on what kind of boot. If its a looser cowboy or ugg boot. Tuck it in it looks better. Those are made to be tucked in. Tighter boots like leather ones, don't tuck those in wear boot cut jeans with them.

In the 1980s my mother used to tuck her jeans into her boots. Those monstrous semi-wrinkly ones that look like part boot - part concertina (shudder).
Wear shoes, there's always the holidays for dressing up like a pirate.

With the skinny pants sticking around, its nicer to tuck your pants in your boots.

i am against it if you are under say 5'4" tall or are very curvy. I look dang horrible in that style. I am 5'4" and very curvy. It just makes me look like an ice cream cone, which is so not a good look.
i have seen women who are tall and slender who wear it and pull it off marvelously. A girl on What not to wear did it last year, she was like 5'10" and maybe a size 6 or 8. Looked wonderful.

also depends on that pant style- a "boot cut" or pant leg that is larger or not as snug wont tuck inside as easy...
plus, if you tuck in and they boot is higher or you have short legs, its just going to cut your leg in half and make you look shorter.
