my fiance is in jail for a probation violation.her public defender said his not aloud to speak to me about her case.how do i make sure his doing all he can to get her out? and would a payed attorney be any better.but i really dont have the money for one anyways.shes in on a probation violation for property damage.

First off, have her authorize you in writing to discuss her case with her attorney. And yes paid attorneys are ALWAYS better than public defenders.

You really can't. But the attorney is right not to talk to you. Clients often do not want their spouse to know the details of their case, so the attorney is prohibited from sharing that info.

Paid attorneys can be better, but they can also be worse. The amount of money you pay reflects how much time the attorney can spend on the case....a private attorney typically charges $200-300 per hour, depending on where you are in the country.

In other words, if you don't have much money, you're probably better off with the public defender.
