Why should I choose a kitten over a puppy?

If I get a puppy or a kitten I will have to pay 400$ deposit plus 20$ a month for rent.

I would love to get both but wow will that be expensive!

Sweet! I have had both but can only get one at a time.
I will end up getting a puppy too. I know that the puppy will be more expensive so I guess I will get the kitten first. That would be great though to come up with the money for the huge 800$ deposit on 2 pets. I would love for them to grow up together.

Thank you!

Kittens (and/or cats) don't have to be taken outside for a walk when it's rainy/snowy/cold first thing in the morning, and they generally chew less, although you do have to watch out for their claws.

Also, depending on how large your house/apartment is, you may not have enough room for a puppy. They need so much room to run and play, and there's no way they could get that in a little apartment like mine, especially if you work during the day and can't be with them.

If you go out of town, you'll have to find a dog-sitter, but if you go somewhere for up to a weekend, you can just leave out extra food and water and the cat will be fine.

If you're busy, a kitten is far more ideal. Still fun, cute and cuddly, but a LOT more self-sufficient.

Kittens take more responsibility when it comes to litter training, but once that is complete, a cat is pretty much self sustaining. Now for a puppy, you will have to be there for him forever, whenever he has to go outside to run and play, and to use the bathroom. Dogs are a bit noisy, cats are quiet, ever have a cop come to your house because of a complaint of your cat meowing too loud? Then again you can get both a puppy and a kitten and raise them together and all is happy! :)

Puppies are A LOT more work then kittens! You should adopt an dog or cat though if you are getting something. The older animals are harder to find homes for. They are easier because most of them are trained & altered already!! Plus they are not as crazy.

I've never had a dog, but i used to watch my next door neighbors dogs all the time, and well i think cats are WAY easier.

cats just basically eat, sleep, and poop. unless its a kitten where it likes to play, but that ends & even when they want to play just wiggle string in there faces & they'll have the time of there lives. & only crappy part is cleaning the litter. you can let cats outside, they will come back to you when they want to come in, and you dont need to really train them, unless you dont want them on they bed, but for that a simple spray bottle would work fine, same with scratching the furniture.

dogs are generally more playful through most of there lives. especially labs. you have to take them out on walks, all year round, rain or snow. & if you just wanna let them out in the back, they might try to dig a whole to get out, so you need to watch them. then you have to find where they pooped, annd pick it up. unless you want a pooped backyard. you could get them trained but if you cant train them you have to pay $$

people also think dogs are more cuddly then cats. NOT TRUE. ecpeically if you have a big dog. cats are great to keep your legs warm in the winter too! the only sad thing is when they get up.. that spots cold. haha :(

Kitten- Not much hard work, absolutly cute but can go outside and never come back and break your heart! DOESNT REALLY NEED MUCH OF YOUR TIME

Puppy- Hard work, helps you get fit, you need to walk it for life, more expencive but a great companian. NEEDS LOADS OF YOUR TIME

my cat died at the age of twenty, i know have two dogs there great but real hard work. I miss my cat but they are less sociable then a dog.
Why not get both XD

Choose a puppy because the kitten will run around and scratch up your new furniture, the curtains etc.... I have both. I just got new furntiure and that cat is about to find a new home. Puppies can be trained a little better.

I have had both. I think I will stick with cats now, because they are easier to take care of. They basically take care of themselves as long as they have food and water. They dont have to be let out and let back in....as long as you never start to let them out.

Puppies can need alot of training, and need to be let in and out. You have to pick up after them, because of what they leave in your yard, and they sometimes will chew things and they tend to tear your yard up too. They are just more work...in my opinion. I love them though...I just think, after having cats, they are alot easier. We are able to leave town for a week or more, and the cats are fine. We dont have to have anyone check on them.*

easy.... instead, just get it from a friend for like $1 or free. the shelter would work, but i think you have to pay. kittens are better though, in my opinion, you don't have to take it for walks cause it's trained
