Last Train to Alcatraz by Leon (Whitey) Thompson. He was an inmate at Alcatraz and was finally given parole when they shut Alcatraz. He now visits boys clubs all over America and tells of his experiences within Alcatraz and how NOT to get on the wrong side of the law. I was lucky enough to have a chat with him when he was visiting Alcatraz to autograph his book. He had some amazing stories to tell. This made the book all the more fascinating for me.

A list of my favorite books would be enormous, but I'll pick a few at random. The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (by Douglas Adams), Coraline (Neil Gaiman), Stephen King's The Stand, or perhaps Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. I'd read all of those by 14 save for Coraline, which wasn't out then. That one is geared up for (slightly) younger readers, though.
