It looked to me like the last field goal went over top of the right post. Does that mean no good? In baseball if it goes directly overtop of the foul pole its a homerun. Is that a reviewable play even? If you watched Vinatieri it looked like he still thought it might have been good but was waiting on the refs call. I'm not a big fan of either team, but does anyone know if their could have been a different ruling here?

From group response it seems like I had a bad angle. But had it gone over the post what is the call?

If a field goal is higher than the goal posts, it has to go clearly through the posts if they stretched to infinity. That's why there are two officials standing directly under the posts during a field goal kick. That's the only angle where you can tell definitively if the ball would have gone through the uprights.

You may not have noticed, but Kaeding's kick in the first half went higher than the goal posts. And, because the officials were in position to make the determination, they ruled that Kaeding's kick was good.

You must not have seen it from the right angle, because from what I saw, it went about 15 to 20 feet to the outside of the post. It was way off.

It was no good. A better angle showed that he had missed the field goal by a foot or two to the right.

I guess you had a better view than the refs had standing directly below the goal post. Maybe they should make you the official at-home referee.

I was there and they showed replay after replay and it was wide. A little more left then it could have been reviewable but still it was too wide. GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!

right before that kick, roger goddell stood up and gave the "thumbs down" signal. at that point, the referees knew the kick was going to be called "no good".
