A good question! It makes no sense does it? He would be better to visit the poor in America, like Mother Teresa did.
Plus sell the Vatican and all the expensive trimmings and live like Jesus did. No gold [except when He was born].
He didn't have an Army either. [Swiss guards].
I love the Catholics who help the poor and run soup kitchens and orphanages, usually nuns.
Not into all this other robes and money stuff!

Pope Benedict XVI is a man of Peace, and has been meeting with many other leaders of Nations and heads of other religions, let us welcome him.

Archbishop Pietro Sambi, apostolic nuncio (Vatican ambassador) to the United States, said the pope's visit to ground zero will be in "solidarity with those who have died and their families and all who wish for an end of violence and the implementation of peace."

He'll say prayers for all the victims and for the survivors. He wasn't Pope yet in 2001 so he's doing next year.
