Would Liberals condemn the squelching of free speech and student protests?

Of course they would CLAIM to condemn such actions...but the silence from the Left is deafening when it comes to this latest example:

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Masked gunmen opened fire on students returning from a march in which tens of thousands of Venezuelans denounced President Hugo Chavez's attempts to expand his power through constitutional changes.

Photographers for The Associated Press saw at least four gunmen — their faces covered by ski masks or T-shirts — firing handguns at the anti-Chavez crowd at the UCV. Terrified students ran through the campus as ambulances arrived.

Those on the Left whined for YEARS about the Kent State scumbags being waxed. But when it comes to socialist despots like Chavez silencing dissent and free speech...thats just par for the course

EDIT: Yes, those who were shot at Kent State were, in fact, scumbags. SDS as a communist front-organization. The fact that (maybe) they didn't deserve it doesn't negate the fact that they were scumbags. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it, its my right

He is a very caring man.
These kids are big trouble makers and should be punished severely.
There is no comparisons to the martyrs at Kent State and the hooligans who are to ignorant to know when someone is trying to help them.

It's the same here in the US. Look at the protesting left when ANY conservative is invited to a university or college to speak. They are immediately shut down by the lefty protesters, who, I would guess, just don't want Free Speech, because something is going to be said that they do not agree with. Some kind of tolerance?

You dont need to goto another country to find this out. Examine most college campuses in our country. Just last month several convervative college groups hosted different conservative speakers at their campues. Many of the speakers were physically shut down because of liberal activist groups would not allow them to acess.to the venue No security was provided by the campus.
Compare that too Irainan President comming and speaking in NY.
Free speech is the enemy of liberalism. That is why Unions are pushing for open ballots so other people know how you voted.
The difference between Freedom and liberalism is the difference between black and white.

No. They may say they condemn such actions, but those of us that aren't morons know that free speech plays a major role in liberals' political defaet. Less government control means unhappy libs and potentially violent libs.
