I love the game of baseball, and I've been playing it since I was five years old. I'm entering my senior year this year, and Ive been a two year varsity starter in the outfield. It was only after this year my junior year, that Ive started to really find a true love for the game of baseball. I hope to someday make it to the mlb, although i know the odds.

I have always been good in my eyes, but I'm entering my senior year and have not even been sniffed by any scouts. Last year I batted in the 300s for half the year and didnt make in error in right field. The problem that I have is my size, I am 5 11 and weigh about 150 pounds and am kinda scrony. So this summer and beyond I have dedicated myself to the game of baseball. I want to be the leader of the team next year and am practicing every aspect of the game everyday, Im willing to do whatever it takes. So im asking do you think all the hard work will pay off or is it all for nothing.

Don't let size discourage you, just look at Marcus Giles, or even Dustin Pedroia. They are both about your size and great players. Dedicate every second of your free time to game. A .300 average is decent in the high school game, but they look at someone with at least a .400 average and someone who lets his presence be known on the field. If you dont get anything by the end of your senior season, try to become a walk on for a college in your home state.

If all the hard work doesn't pay of with a baseball career, it will pay off in other aspects of your life. Most scouts these days scout college ball, not high school. Enhance your chances of getting a baseball scholarship to a good school by putting the same work ethic into your grades. That will have its own payoff.

It never hurts to try, even if you fail. If you go through your life not doing something because you're not 100% sure that it's going to pay off, then what's the point?

I don't think anyone achieves every dream they ever set out for, but you learn from trying. If baseball is what you want to do, then try it. If you don't make it, then you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you gave it everything you had. I'd rather try and fail than spend my life regretting that I didn't even give it a shot.

If it is your dream to play in the big leagues, go for it! Try to put on some more weight this year. Even if you don't make it to the big leagues, the hard work you put in will be beneficial to you in whatever you do. Hard work is very rewarding in the workplace and on the diamond. Good luck to you!

P.S. The Tigers need another OF. Maybe you can help:)
