Maybe one day we will, but currently the technology to support it is not reliable enough, if it exist at all...
For example, your company's database system have to support a secure access from computer outside the company network, and this access must be able to accomodate the load of transfering data to you as you work, and it has to support all the employee.

I don't really understand people like this sometimes. We are becoming a society where no one ever leaves the house! I enjoy leaving for work. It's important to deal with co-workers in person in many situations. Some work can be done from home, but not all.
