My husband and I just found out we are expecting. We have been talking about names and he really likes the name Lake for a boy. I on the other hand am having a hard time with it. I don't really mind it has a middle name. But he want's it as a middle name and the name that he will be known as. So how do you feel about it?

If you really want Lake to be in the first name..go w/ Laken.

Other than Lake being sort of hippie and perhaps not the most masculine name out there it's alright. I think you could consider using something similar sounding or with the same kind of flair or meaning. Such as River, which is also hippie, but somewhat more tangible thanks to the association with River Phoenix. More familiar as well, but not necessarily common. Then there's Blake, which I like quite a bit myself. Or Laken like someone suggested.

forget these people! Lake is a super handsome name and the popular names now aren't what they used to be. I seriously doubt a kid named Lake would be made fun of next to Paisley and Jayden

Naming him Laken is still very unique, spellable, pronounceable, and you can still call him Lake. Sounds good to me. Now find one of your mothers' maiden names and use it for the middle name.

Laken Johnson Heard
Laken Williams Jackson

etc.

Lake isn't really a good name for a boy more for a girl. Emma is a good girls name though.
