Yay!

I guess we can pull the troops out in the next 10 years instead of the next 20....

Unfortunately, the tide is not turning for the people of Iraq who continue to suffer thousands of civilian casualties, refugee en masse and live in sub-standard conditions.

It has not been legitimate to say the surge is not working for months now but that has not stopped the democrats.

Bill Richardson was still denying it yesterday on Wallace.

All their talking points have gone through the floor and they are more than willing to follow.

What a stupid bunch. The vast majority of Americans list domestic issues as their number one concern with Iraq a distant third. They were of the same mind back in 2006 and the Democrats won yet they still act like they lost.

Amazingly they will, once again, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Incomprehensible.

But didn't you hear 5 Americans died at the begining of the month making this the deadliest year of the war?!?!?!-sarcasm of course. Yes the tide is turning but that is bad for Democrats because Herry Reid said we are losing and a lot of his friends followed suit, so they will find doubt somewhere and amplify it to be the image of Iraq they want portreyed

I support the war and the troops but, things died down just before the Tet offensive in 68 too. I hope our troops don't let their guard down. We should be sending more over there.

yeah, but just last week this officially became the most deadly year yet..... so do you look at the short term trend or the long term trend?

if in a year it has continually dropped off... then I might take another look at it.

also.. I have to ask how much is "sharply" and what is an acceptable level? And that doesn't even begin to answer the question of should we be there at all.

Edit: Haven't you people learned anything about looking at short term trends from you claims on the stock market? You would say "look, it's at an all time high.. the economy is great".. then the next day it would drop 400 points and you'd have to eat crow. All I'm saying is that short term trends are useless.

Yes, the Surge will rank high on the list of glorious victories alonside the Battle for Fallujah (4+ years ago) and the Battle for Baghdad (6+ years ago).

The tide has turned for America and Bush but not for Democrats.

That's terrible news for the military industrial complex. With only a trillion or more dollars of America's money (made over the period of the Iraq war) how will they make ends meet if the war should end now?

Bush's buddies. That's what this war has been about since the beginning. That... and absolutely nothing else.

So are the terrorists completely wiped out country wide and defeated or merely moved to other locations less saturated with US troops? Is Bush going to issue another premature 'mission accomplished' celebration?

It has for the short-term. Once we leave they'll be up to their old tricks unless we can help them establish a federal system amoung their different groups.
