Most people are 'good' because they dont want to go to jail, or because of their religion, they think being good will get them to heaven! Most people in power can be very evil, because they could get away with it, and most of the business world is people ripping people off. If people could get away with it, I'm sure you can get their real character(like when they do bad deeds on alcohol or drugs, because they are uninhibited. I know there are good people, but does that mean the more good they are, the more evil they are because of the yin/yang balance? I know a lot of good people have very evil fantasies but supress them. A lot of people are on 'medication' to balance them out. What is your opinion?

Look at Foxy Knoxy, for some reason I really like her but she could be a murderer! In the bible it says ALL sins are equal in the eyes of God so she is not any worse than 99% of people who sin legally!

I found out that most 'charities' in my experience are money-making rackets for the people who run them!

This Question is interesting... I have to agree with there are good people and bad people. Though, that is where it gets twisted. Who makes the decision who is good or bad. You tied in religion, the bible says we shouldn't judge, but our whole system of the courts judges all the time, and we see sometimes we arent even correct on that. Religious leaders judge as well, then say we have free will. Which only leaves one item, and that is we have a human flaw, a flaw which lets us be blinded by media and opinions which shape what we perceive as good and bad. George Bush is said to be good for alleviating a world of Saddam, but is he good for neglecting to step up to help Katrina victims in time? Al Sharpton is said to be good for trying to curb racial issues by stopping the spread of hate, but isnt it bad that it mainly leads to media and not standing behind causes like Jena 6, or the fact that the African American communities in inner cities struggle to maintain jobs and are struggling in cities.
So who decides good or bad? Who decides what it is? we all have different trains of thought, and we wouldn't be individuals if we rode that train, there wouldn't be the beauty in arts and and music.

I know a girl who is so good you wouldn't believe.. to other people I mean.

In fact I know quite a few guys and girls like this. They're not religious, nor after power, they simply can't stand to not help people.

Obviously there are people of complete the opposite as well, but everyone's different.

Just think.. from a survival point of view, if everyone had the same personality, and everyone would agree..

with diversity it is much more likely that at least one sort of person will survive a tragedy depending on their course of action.

I know exactly what you are saying. People are either bad because they can be or good because theres a motive behind it. To be honest I consider myself a good person. Not to get into heaven I honestly dont believe in that but who knows what can happen (either way I could get in because I dont have to believe as long as a led a good life.). I dont do it because I get off on people being happy. I only do it because whats the point of being evil besides the fact that I can

You are becoming cynical. There are lots and lots of "good" people out there. There are bad people too.

The ying/yang doesn't work. There is not a balance of good and evil on the planet. The bad outnumber the good and always will. The good need to persevere and never give up being good.

Of course there are genuinely "good" people. Just look for them in the 'helping professions'. Large numbers but not all of the clergy, teachers, doctors and nurses, and various others are interested in helping others.

Think of Hillel's Three Questions.
1. If I am not for myself, who will be?
2. If I am only for myself, who am I?
3. If not now, when?

Good people are for themselves AND for others as well.

If you are only for yourself, you are not good. You are overly selfish.

By the way there are plenty of people who have no belief in a god, who are wonderfully good to others.

I consider myself a 'good' person out of choice - not out of fear. I support the Dalai Lama's statement, "My religion is simple. My religion is kindness."

good people want to make other people feel good but not for any gain. nasty people are unhappy, be nice to people even if their not nice to you but only if they stop being nasty if not then dont have anything to do with them, because other people can make you feel sad.........stay good
