It means that they are a lot like other people, and they don't think for themselves. You might say a group of popular girls who talk, laugh and dress the same have "generic personalities"

generic means characteristics of or relating to a class or group: not specific - so with that in mind generic personality basically means somone who fits into a specific clas or group of personality traist and characteristics or someone whose personality is not specific

A run-of-the-mill type of person. Someone who gets lost in the crowd. A person who conforms and so is very much like everyone else. It certainly isn't a compliment.

Basically just go into a high school and look at the kids: dumb drones of MTV. Little Bam Margera immitators and Paris Hiltons.
