Been playing bass for about a month so far but I'm finding it hard to decide what songs to play. Could you guys recommend some songs especially ones where the bass is easy to hear so i can tell whether I'm getting it right. I'd prefer songs from the pop punk, rock genres like Paramore, The Academy is... etc but I don't mind songs from other genres. The more recommendations the better!

If you have only been playing for a month alot of the songs mentioned here may be a little over your head.

A song that I usually like to warm up with is Plush from STP. The beginning of the song is very easy, and good for warm up. The song gets progressively harder towards the middle. So just start at the beginning and once you can play the song all the way through you should have no problems learning others.

Try 'Paperback Writer' by the Beatles. One of the first songs where the bass was the 'lead' instrument. Still an exciting track over 40 years later.

if you want to hear the bass clearly listen to songs by The Beatles or buy one of their chordbooks and it will show you all the bass playing instructions.
