I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,
now there's poetry, in an empty coke can.
I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,
now there's majesty, in a burnt out caravan.
you got me off the paper round, just sprang out of the air,
the best things come from nowhere,
i love you, i don't think you care.
i love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,
and the symmetry in your northern grin
I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,
i can see myself in the refill litter bin.
you got me off the sofa, just sprang out of the air, the best things come from nowhere, i can't believe you care

FYI, for others who have answered, this song is called 'Made Up Love Song #43' by the British band Guillemots.
It reminds me of that lovestruck high you get, coupled with that fear that your object of affection may not feel the same way.
FyFe Dangerfield (lead singer of Guillemots) has a lot of lyrics that are stream-of-consciousness. Sparks and shining dragons represent hot, bright, lively, majestic visual allusions that match the sometimes indescribable high of a new, even first love.
Northern grin is a childlike way of describing the direction of heaven. When I was a kid, I'd point up to the sky and say "heaven is north of here!", and conversely, "hell is south of here!". In another song, Over the Stairs, that phrase is used to refer to the afterlife. The imagery between the 'northern grin' and that song title are at home with Dangerfield's style of writing.
The last bit - you got me off the sofa, just sprange out of the air. Sparks start fires ... start motion. He broils, flashes and burns inside with this love, not sure if it's spent energy ... a false hope. He finds out it's all real and returned, just like that ... the best things come from nowhere.
This is just a thought from having discovered this amazing band a little over a year ago. I haven't met many others in the States that like them.

“I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,”
- I love you, despite the hallucinogenic drugs I am taking.
“now there's poetry, in an empty coke can.”
- While high I obsess about even the most innocuous of objects.
“I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,”
- I’m so high I am now just repeating myself.
“now there's majesty, in a burnt out caravan.”
- I got so high I accidentally burned my trailer to the ground. But I am kidding myself that there is something mystical about it.
“you got me off the paper round, just sprang out of the air,”
- As a junkie the only job I could do was delivering newspapers. But now I am too high to even do that.
“the best things come from nowhere,”
- Drugs make you see things that aren’t there.
“i love you, i don't think you care.”
- I love you because you get me high.
“i love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,”
- Whoa flashback.
“and the symmetry in your northern grin”
- In England the north is where the poor people with strong regional accents live. Kinda like America but upside down.
“I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,”
- And again.
“i can see myself in the refill litter bin.”
- I believe I can see myself in the trash can.
“you got me off the sofa, just sprang out of the air, the best things come from nowhere, i can't believe you care”
- I am still high, thanks for all the drugs.

Sparks and Shining Dragons - Chance meetings,Glances of the one he loves.
Poetry in an empty coke can = He's on a high from being in love with her, everything looks different.
Majesty in a burnt out caravan = He's found love in a desolate place,or dark time in his life.
Off the paper round = possibly changed his direction in life again after walking the same road without love.
I don't think you care in verse 2 and i can't believe you care in verse 4 = Hes not sure of her feelings towards him, maybe she shows affection on and off.
I can see myself in the refill bin = He's born again,a new zest for life inspired by her
Got me of the sofa = Same as of the paper round,Sofa probably meaning going know-where,repartition,shes changed that,he's know moving forward in life because of her.

Maybe the person singing the song or poem or whatever isn't meaning about a person but some kind of object or something or other... something someone might take for granted and not even notice even if it's right in their face... Could be light, smoke, trash, etc?

Love song really, just less obvious than the average stuff. Great band, the Guillemots.

to me :
some one is trying to express their feeling for the one they love but they aren't sure how the other would take it.
they are trying to relate their emotions to different metaphors of places and things the other person they are talking to might understand.
that's how i take it but that's just me
hope i could help =]
