i know that since gay-rod is gone we need a new 3rdbaseman but everybody wants Miguel Cabera i dont we will have 2 giv a surplus of prospects maybe a ian kennedy, melky cabrera and an unkown prospct how about this we then we will have to sighn him to a longtime contact instead we go to the St Louis Cardinals say we want scott rolen gice them a b- prospect them we get a gold glove 3rdbasemen yes the key all this is if he stay's healthy iam willing to take a risk

I happen to agree with you. Scott Rolen is certainly a gamble, but a risk worth taking becuase the upside is if he can get his shoulder healthy, he could return to being one of the best third basemen in the game. And if not, well, the downside is only money and what is money to the Yankees, right? Cabrerra has great offensive numbers. But as you say, look at what you have to deal to get him, first of all. And he's not good defensively and he's fat. If he's out of shape in his early 20s, wait until he gets a few years older and it starts to affect him. Since there are really no better alternatives out there, I see that taking a chance on Rolen makes sense.

I think Rolen could be a good gamble, if the Yanks can get him for a "b-prospect" like you said. He hasn't done well in the last couple of years, but he could be like a "Mike Lowell" type of player for the Yanks (remember Lowell was just a "throw in" in the Beckett trade). Like you said, it's a risk, but could be worth it. I'm not too keen on giving up Melky, Kennedy or anyone else for Cabrera either. The Yanks need to maintain their pitching and defensive strengths. I'm sick of the Yankee teams that can score 20 runs in a game but then get shut down by Kenny Rogers in the playoffs. Losing Arod's offense is overrated. They need more hard-nosed scrappy players, not more "superstars" that can't take the heat in NYC.

The Yankees should try and get a third baseman that can play defense. Cabrerra cannot play defense. Rolen is good at 3rd but is too banged up to consider. I heard on ESPN that they were also looking at MIguel Tejada. That might be a good replacement for A-Rod. I would also talk to the Braves and see if they were willing to trade Chipper Jones for Prospects.

Rolen as a throw-in? Who would be the main player in that deal? Albert Pujols?

you're a moron.
Scott Rolen is probably retiring this year anyways. He did awful when he was playing, what did he hit, .265? He's not even a good fielder anymore.

No. Rolen is too risky. Cabrera or bust!! Yankees are too old and battered anyway, we don't need another injury risk.
Cabrera is FAT?!?! Has ANYONE SEEN David Ortiz?!?!
