I myself, do not know because i have never there before. But most people that have been there, have all told me that France is overrated, and have called their people 'boring'.

For all those people who have been to France and other countries, what do you think ?

I think France is absolutely wonderful. The food, the art museums, the shops. We went to the D-Day invasion cite, visited the cemetery and stayed at a bed and breakfast that was owned by a little old man and his wifewho treated us like gold. We bicycled around the country side, and everyone would wave at us from their doorstep. France is what you make it.

Many things are beautiful and pleasant in France and you'll find no difficulty at collecting positive appreciations and opinions.

So much so that if ever you trip to France someday you'll wonder at some point why so many French seem so sad and frustrated.

Actually, France is an interesting country to go to as long as you have a well loaded credit card, and as much as you don't plan to live and work there.

I live in France, and as I'm sadly experiencing it at this time, better not to openly express felling of sympathy, or worse, solidarity toward the United States and the idea of capitalism.

Yes French may seem boring and rude people to some. The explanation for this other point lies in fact that, as occidental people, French are rather poor and too many liberties and individual freedom are too frustrated. When compared to the U.S. you quickly notice that not only French are (officially or through taxes) denied access to many things. Motorbikes on French road has got to be a rarity since you have to pay about Euro 3000 to 4000 a year for the insurance. Guns are just forbidden. It is by law forbiden to improve or modify anything on your car but few discreet cosmetic details. Automatic radar everywhere that flash your license plates for 2 or 3 miles per hour over the authorized speed. High rate of unemployement whose existence is denied by the State and about 70% of the employed make less than Euro 1500 a month, a wage that allow less than a decent living and the impossibility to afford to buy your own house in most cases;
and for worse goods of consumption and services are much more expensive than in U.S. but in New York city, perhaps.
Most stores closed after 7:00PM and all of them closed after 10:00 and on sundays.

Go to the average midlle-sized French city and see how crowded are the streets after beyond 7:00 to 8:00PM. For want of money they cannot afford much leisure but bicycle, some inexpensive sports and to crowd supermakets after 5:30PM and during saturdays. They stampede at the local public swimming pool every sunday since all stores are closed on that day...

I'm sad for them.

No,
France never ceases to amaze me. There's a beauty there that's rare, and many good things to try, lots of variety, and it's relatively clean and polite.
If someone tells you they hated France, I'd ask them what kinds of places do they like to see where their heads are. They might be the types whose ideal vacation would be Six Flags over Mid America.

Many people like France , many don't . Likes and dislikes are very personal . What one person thinks is wonderful , another has no interest in . To me , there are interesting things and beauty in all parts of the world.

Depends what you want from a country. The people are charming, the food and wine are the best in the world, and the scenery is beautiful. Sounds OK to me.
