Ask members of any of the groups you list, and they'll likely say that the Beatles were an inspiration. Consider the music prior to the Beatles - the bubblegum pop of the 50's and early 60's.
Pretty much any legitmate band will seem better today, especially considering the crap hiphop and rap that seems so dominant.
(can't believe you put the Fray in that list - talk about overrated pop crap) - Nirvana and Metallica are the only really good - lasting bands you listed, everyone else will be largely forgotten in 30 years.

The stupid Beatles eh?
I bet you haven't even heard much of their music apart from the most popular hits.
My guess is you go for your listed bands mainly because you think it's the cool thing to do, when really deep down you think much of it isn't that brilliant.
I like a bit of everything and am perhaps more rounded and less narrow minded in my tastes than you seem to be I'm afraid.
Those who enjoy the Beatles and much of the other early groups probably possess a far greater knowledge of music than you do, and they dont lower themselves to negatively slag off other bands without any reason whatsoever.
There are so many older musicians and bands that have been the main influence for the groups etc today. Oasis, esp Noel Gallagher is a Beatles nut, and just about any musician worth their salt has said at some time that people like Lennon, David Bowie etc are their main influences--including you precious peppers, Nirvana and chums.
Why dont you e-mail me to discuss what it is about the Beatles you hate. Hate is a strong word. Why hate a group--it is so odd of you to actually HATE a group, laughable in fact, but my bet is that you are young, easily led, and the truth of the matter is that you are a sad, stupid kid.

HEY, watch it! Those bands wouldn't even exist without the Beatles! The Beatles were one of the first ones to do something completely different in rock & roll (along with Elvis and others of that time) and bring around a change in music. If it weren't for them, these bands wouldn't exist. And I'm sure if you asked any of the members of the bands you like they would say that they looked up to the Beatles. Try not to be so ignorant and narrow minded.

Well, for one thing, many people can remember where they were when they first heard a well-known Beatles song. When I hear "All You Need is Love," I am right back at Great Lakes, Illinois, and it is five in the morning, still dark out, and I am working in a cafeteria building. An ugly sailor is bossing me around. Mostly an unpleasant memory.

The Beatles are part of my history. Those other groups that you mentioned were/are highly influenced by their talent. They will live on and on, just like Elvis.

there might be 10 songs that I like, but I couldn't say there were 11. I like Paul much better since he went solo. he's done some great music without John and Yoko holding him back.

You had to be there. They were, for their time, phenominal. I, myself, when I see some of the stuff which seemed so exciting then, can understand why today's youth would deem them tame, or even lame, but, for that time, they were a wonder!

Not crazy `bout them. How come the Eagles are so popular? The only good thing about them was Joe Walsh. Fleetwood Mac sucked too.
