First of all allow me to say I disagree with your link 100% and that is only because I have spent 12 years working in various aspects that cover zoology.

Anyway to your question, chances are the 75% are people in management positions that have taken the time to work their way up the ladder. I am not saying that there are not some jobs out there in zoology that start at such a pay range. It is just that in zoology it is rather rare. Zoology is just one of those degrees/jobs that are big on experience.

Most of the upper paying jobs with zoology you can find through working for the US govt be it local, state, or on a federal level. Mind you there are webpages for each of those levels that have job postings hat contain what is required as well as pay range. Federal and State jobs would pay more so than most local.

With zoology though you do not have to work at a zoo. What a zoologist does and can do is extremely wide... work in a zoo, park, behind a desk, teach, work in the middle of the woods, on a boat, for the govt, private research... the list just goes on and on.

On avg though most keepers do not make too much money. It is enough to live off of but there are far better paying jobs out there. However that is not to say that there are not keepers who make kick *** money, it is just you have to work your way up to headkeeper, curator or director. Working at a zoo is one of those jobs that people do because they love it and not because of the money they make. If you want to check out some jobs look at aza.org under their job posting section.

My suggestion, do not be so worried about money. I always said growing up that I did not care how much I made as long as I loved where I worked and made enough to live. Money can be a good thing, but it is far from everything.
