If parents watched what there kids ate then they wouldn't be fat. If the parents start at birth and insist on eating healthy then when they become older it will be a habit. People can't take blame for there own actions so they have to blame other things. Such as Santa is fat so that must mean I can be fat to. That sorta thing. I think it is ridiculous and people should stop blaming other things for there own stupidity.

I agree with you on this 100%! Changing Santa Claus, and how we know him as has been the same for years! Why change something that has been known in family homes all over the world? I think this is just ridiculous! It wont change a thing! If anything, I think it will INCREASE child-hood obesity because when you tell children to do one thing, then they do the opposite. I hadnt heard that the cookie monster had been changed to something as lame as the " apple monster". I can gurantee you that more people eat cookies than they do apples, and maybe that is the problem, but you know what? Its THEIR problem. I think that they should leave people who are overweight alone. Its nothing wrong with them. And trying to use subliminal messages to get children to lose weight is not the answer. After all, its the PARENTS who are feeding them. They give them money for allowances, and then buy junk food at school, and then their parents give them the things that they want. This whole " Obesity in America" thing is really getting on my nerves! And Santa Claus should always look like a hearty person because that is the way that the story has been told for hundreds of years. You associate Kris Kringle as being a nice, rotund guy. So if they make Santa Klaus skinny, what else are they going to do? Change the size of his wife? Because she is a plump woman. Or how about his elves? Are they going to change them too? I find all of this to be really crazy. They should just leave everything as it is. And if " obesity" is really an epidemic, and since they are trying so hard to get people to lose weight, then it sounds to me as if they are the ones who have created the problem, and now they need a solution for something that to them, has gotten completely out of hand. If they do decide to do this, then I will NOT be in support of it. I think its wrong, and its crazy, and its taking away our freedom and right to express ourselves. The least they can do is have a poll for Americans to vote on. I think that would be the right thing to do.

I have found it to be the case more and more today in every area that business people and,,especially entertainment people,,are expected to be more politically and SEMANTICALLY correct in EVERY little thing that they do and say. This drastic approach to communication especially in ADVERTISEMENTS is cause to make me want to throw up! Why can "SUGAR frosted flakes" no longer have the" SUGAR" in the name? Why must COOKIE monster loose the "COOKIE" ?? Why can't "Little BLACK Sambo" retain the skin color of his national heritage??In times gone past the REASON for SANTA to be represented as "FAT" was simply a reflection of his effluence and at that time a "skinny" person was a sign of being destitute and HUNGRY. Why must we change the things NAMES on those things that we LOVE!? If there was a REAL REASON to change these names then that would be OK,,,but this arbitrary twist of linguistics makes me sick because it only fosters the positive"IMAGES" of the rich manufacturers of "big business" while PRETENDING that these people really CARE about the health of our kids! Please leave a little room for individuality in allowing some of us to maintain our HARMLESS lack of the politically correct vocabulary that is being forced upon all of us! One more point,,,,HOW do they expect Santa to gain access to houses that have CENTRAL HEAT instead of a "CHIMNEY"? Lets just DESTROY EVERYTHING that has any "MAGIC" in it for the kids to think happy thoughts about. They will grow into maturity fast enough without us pushing it on them. There is a TIME for everything to exist,,and "SANTA" has his place in the development process of the childs mind.

When did they change Cookie Monster? Although Santa does need a diet. One of these years he's gonna get stuck. It is ridiculous though.

It's completely insane. I think everybody just needs to take a deep breath and lighten up. I haven't heard about any changes to Cookie Monster, but if that's true, all I can do is roll my eyes and shake my head.

Are you freakin serious??? It's not SANTA'S fault that more and more children are becoming obese. It's a personal problem, not a Santa problem. That's stupid. Everyone loves Santa the way he is, and he doesn't have to become anorexic for us to love him even more.

I think it's a whole line of crap, personally. I can't tell you the last time I looked to Santa as a diet guru.
