My daughter is 11 and she dreams of becoming a singer. She talks about all this going big stuff, and getting an agent. Is she too young though? Because i really don't know. Just a simple yes or no, and an explanation will do it. Thanks!

If singing is her bag, she needs private voice lessons from someone who is well-versed in the music style your daughter plans to study and depending on where she wants to take her career she needs to make and submit demo tapes so you'll likely need a manager who really understands the business and what you and your daughter want your place to be in the business to be. The music biz is different than the acting biz and you've posted in the theatre and acting section so you have been getting answers more toward acting agents. What you may want to to is post in a defferent area if it's music you're talking about. If she wants to be an actor who happens to sing, that's different.

In any case, 11 is not too young. For actors, babies as young as a few weeks old have agents. For performers such as singers, as long as you sing you can have representation.

Maybe you could elaborate on exactly what you're looking for and maybe check out different areas in which to post depending on what that is.

best of luck,
Marianne

No 11 is not too young to have an agent. Depending on your location, I'd see if you can get her into some kind of young talent agency with a fairly good reputation. That would increase her chances of finding work.

11 yrs is not to young. There are a lot of child stars who have agents. Many of them younger than 11, some of them babies.
I think an agent could really help her to find things that she would like to do.

It is good to keep in mind that this might just be a passing phase that she is going through.

My best,
Hope

No, children of all ages have agents. An example: In the movie "Santa Claus", the boy who plays Charlie (can't think of his name) has an agent. Eleven years old is fine. :) Good luck to you and your daughter!

No. In show business there is not an age which is too young or and age which is too old.

Not sure. But you are too young to be part of this forum -- I think you have to be at least 14.
