I would rather do without it starting in freaking November. November is for Thanksgiving, Christmas can wait until December. It starts earlier and earlier every year.

The eating,...I always eat too much and gain weight
The crowds in the malls,,,I hate that,,,,standing in line etc and people buying all kinds of things that do not want or need just for the sake of giving a gift.

I can't say... I think all parts need to be there so that you know you've made it though once again... I wouldn't mind skipping my MIL though, she is the holiday "look at me" tyrant!
