When I see people with cell-phones, its like they are trying to make a statement with them or something. People flaunt them like its a REALLY big deal. Has anyone else noticed this before?

you know your right. it really fries my bacon when i see 10 year olds with cell phones. is it really that necessary to spend money on a piece of technology just to blend in. the only reason you need a cell is if you work or in a ten year olds case have extra curricular activities. phones should be used simply as communication, NOT a means to gain popularity.

Yes, I notice this all the time. Now that the majority of us has a cell phone, it isn't exactly making a statement anymore, is it? I think it's ridiculous that people can't go about their day without a cell glued to their ear, especially when they expect me to help them at my store and can't show me enough respect to get off the darn phone! I have a cell phone, and I usually answer it when it rings, but I try to step outside where I'm not disturbing other people. I'm not "cool" just because I have a cell phone.

Yup I've noticed.
Some people think they're cool cause the got a cell. Lol.

The only thing that having a cell phone implies...... is that you have a cell phone.

Having a cell phone implies that you have a phone that you can take with you in case of an emergency

Having a cell phone only implies that you want to stay in touch with family and friends... Having a cell phone that can also make you a cup of coffee, and fix your car, that's saying something entirely different.

i.e. materialistic!!!!!

Not where I'm from. Everyone i know needs cellphones for work and life. Maybe they're a big deal when you're 13, but as you get older they are a necessity.

I have one, but hardly ever use it. And I do find it annoying that so many people can't get through a drive or a shopping task w/out using it. Do we really need to be that connected?

Yeah, I notice it. "Oh, look, I've got a razer phone." "Ok. Cool. I've got a functional, cheap, longer-lasting cell phone."
