I could go on a list like 3miles long.. But we all know about that already.
Thanks for this one though.

It does seem they’ve lost their way since Kennedy's inaugural speech doesn't it?
Today's dems are not your mamma and daddy's dems that's for sure.
I truly believe there are many traditional dems left unfortunately there are only a couple in office these days. The liberals have taken control and are in charge at present.
The sad fact of the matter is we only have ourselves to blame. I honestly believe the country as a whole is more conservative than liberal. They believe there are limits that should not be exceeded, there is a distinct difference between right and wrong and discipline is a positive thing. They don't want government to run every aspect of their lives and are not looking for a free ride.
Now if those folks would finally realize their vote does count and get out and place it some of this nonsense might end.
As far as I'm concerned there are only a handful of decent people in congress right now and the rest of them need to be removed and never allowed in Washington again.
I wouldn't give two cents for the whole lot.
Politics should never have been allowed to become a career for the idle rich but rather a temporary service for those who want to contribute. If it were a bit of a sacrifice like it once was maybe we would get more quality people in office who were there for the right reason.
Unfortunately the common man cannot afford to run for office these days. If you do not have the ability to raise staggering amounts of money your thoughts and positions on issues will never be heard and that is a shame.

The first one is very accurate. In 1961 there were more conservatives in the Democrat party than liberals. The very idea of anything socialist or communist was repugnant to almost all Americans.

The 2007 mantra is we deserve everything for free. Since the liberals have hijacked the Democrat party anything conservative whether a Democrat or Republican idea is immediatly labeled fascist or fundamentalist.

it's not necessarily just Democrats, but more often Liberals. NY State is a perfect example of what happens when liberals run the state: Highest taxes, 2nd highest poverty rates, worst test scores, and best paid unions and government officials in the country. Just try to show how liberal policies work? Pataki (R) was a big Liberal (he gave the unions everything they asked for, and that is why he did not run for President. Our State is hand out central, and it's easier to get in line than to go to work. The working poor are getting crushed by the Left because they tax businesses right out of the state.

THIS IS A PREFECT EXAMPLE.....

No. The democrats are not saying that health care should be free. Dennis Kucinich is not. He is saying that the for profit health care system is not working for most Americans anymore. We need a single payer health care system that is non-profit. Eliminate the insurance companies from health care. There are some potential problems there in terms of cost control.
Most Americans realize that everything comes at a price. (especially working Americans know this.) From what I see, it is harder and harder for most people to meet their basic needs because of economic conditions. We cannot compete with countries like China because we are used to a higher standard of living. As we have lost industries and good paying jobs, it has come at a steep price for most Americans. Consumers are benefiting marginally. Executive management teams are the ones benefiting significantly from the shift. Investors are doing ok. The average American who works is worse off today than in years past. The future is looking dim. It seems acceptable today that there are some winners and some big losers. Democrats have a moral problem with that and so I believe that is why they say things like "free". But most hard-working Americans don't want or expect anything for free. We want to earn it but it has become really hard to do so. If you look at the cost of education, it has gone up so much that it doesn't seem to make sense for most children to go to college because the costs outweigh the benefits. It now costs $13,000 a year to attend community college in my city. No way would I pay that now. No way. My parents paid $10,000 a year for me at the University of Alabama, which included room and board. Granted, I graduated 10 years ago. But inflation has been pretty low for the most part. I don't know what tuition is at UA anymore.
I'm working on an MBA and looking at getting about $20,000 in debt. It will most likely be more than that because my tuition has already jumped since beginning this program in February. What choice do I have? Quit. No. I'm a 1/3 the way through. I'm doing well. It seems to me that this country needs to reexamine our priorities and what is important. What kind of America do we want? The one from the past? Or a new one that excludes a lot of people? What are the costs of that? Decreased security? The middle class stabilizes America. It gives people hope.

The free market (it's not free) has failed because competition is dying. Companies are too huge. It stifles competition. We have progressed pretty far. Companies aren't taking the kinds of risks that they use to take. Something needs to happen. So let's talk and debate. It's good for the soul as long as we keep our emotions in check to the best of our abilities.

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."
A famous quote from JFK.

Another famous JFK-ism as he addressed the locals when he visited the Berlin Wall.
"I too, am a Berliner"
The crowd stared in astonishment.
Translation
I am a coffee and 2 jelly donuts"

Always remember, nothing is for free.
Somebody is always paying for it.
More importantly,
Whenever somebody gets a dollar that they did not work for, (the leaches of society) somebody somewhere is working for a dollar that they will never get to spend (the people who work and pay taxes)
Merely the redistribution of wealth.

Here's what Hillary Clinton says,...

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good" 6/29/2004

"It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, and for the few...and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity." 5/29/2007

"(We)...can't just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people." 6/4/2007

"I certainly think the free-market has failed." 6/4/2007

I think it's time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in (the) entire economy that they are being watched." 9/2/2005

"We have to build a political consensus and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own...in order to create this common ground." 6/4/2007

"Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

"it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity."

Not the 2007 part.

Tell me this, how would a conservative/republican know a Democrat better than the person knows of him/herself? If anyone should be judgemental, it should be of the self, and not others.

Accurate from the perspective of a Rush or a Sean or a BillO. But inaccurate in reality.

Neither of these "quotes" are assessments. I remember the first citation. It was John Kennedy that said it. The second quote is unfamiliar. Who said it?
You seem to be attempting to show a shift in the democratic party's ideals. You are most inaccurate.
