I have my 2001 Corvette in the shop today. They are currently tearing apart the motor and believe that the piston ("s) might be bad. Appx how much to replace and fix the issue?

Thanks-

Depends on what they find when they finish the tear-down. If they need to replace pistons, it may be less expensive to just order a new short-block from a local rebuilder.

Either way you look at it and no matter who is doing the work, this is going to be a major league expensive repair. It's hard to quote a figure as it is not known if the motor needs machining or further stuff done to it. Pistons don't normally wear out so I can't say what they are trying to repair or your complaint was.
