I am looking to save money on my bills. As i am in rented accomodation i can not install a thermostat so i need to know is it cheaper to leave my heating and water on all the time or set the timer on the boiler to come on whenever i am home?

On the front of the boiler there is two knobs, one for hot water and one for heating. They are numbered 1-6. To the right of this is what i think is a clock timer. You switch it to timed and then pick what time you want it to come on. Is it cheaper for me to just leave it on or leave it timed to come on when i get home?

It would appear your landlord would place a thermostat in whatever source you have for heat and hot water. Who pays for the elecricity or gas you use. There has to be some sort of temperature control on hot water or you are flirting with safety.

It will save you money to set the timers for the times you will be home. It should save you at least 10-15% on your bill.

Check with your landlord. If you are paying the electricity, then you need a thermostat. If he is, then he should want one. Check with him as there may be one that you have not found yet.
