Believe it or not, in some places, the system works. You have to understand that the people who practice the custom look at marriage in a totally different way. To them, marriage is like a business contract. The couple is going to work together to make a successful family. Often love grows between the two as they co-operate to build their family and life. If it doesn't, well, they figure marriage isn't about love anyway.

Don't try to understand it because it only makes sense to the people who still live in the dark ages. There are some cultures who have the women so scare to speak out that they will go along with anything the men say. When you have women walking around all covered up in black and it's 100 degrees out. Look at the men you see them dressed in cool white clothes. The women are so brain washed and the men want to keep it that way. I'm not talking about the women who do this willingly,that's something totally different.
