I bought a car about 2months ago... I put it on my dad's name for insurance purposes... and had an agreemant to put it back on my name as soon as I got my lisence. He bumped my car while being drunk, and didn't even ask me to go for a drive. We had a really bad fight and he kicked me out of the house. He moved (I don't know where) and took my car! I bought the car from my brother in law... I have evidence that I bought it with MY MONEY. But I dont have money left to get help form an attorney... Help?

Don't get me wrong it wasn't for cheaper insurance... I dont have a lisence yet and therefor can't get insurance... I was scared that one of the family (the only car in household) would get into an acsedent and we dont have money to fix it. I just wanted to insure the car untill I had a lisence and would then carried every thing onto my name again.

Your evidence is worthless.

It's his car as a gift. You blew it.

Of course, if you want to tell the court you were perpetrating an insurance fraud I'm sure they would listen.

oy! what a mess. Doesn't sound like your dad is much of a role model is he?
If you can manage it, I'd say lay low for a bit and he'll come back on your radar and hopefully he'll have calmed down and you can get yr car back. UNLESS you want to have an all out feud - then call the cops and and get them involved. Not a good idea though.

You committed insurance fraud. You got what you deserved.
Next time register the car LEGALLY, even if it means paying more insurance.
This is why they say "Cheaters don't win".... Because eventually cheaters get busted.
mp_wifey.. He's supposed to tell the POLICE, "I was committing insurance fraud to get this car"? Yeah, they're gonna JUMP to help.

**What kind of idiot buys a car before they get a license?
Oh... The kind that piss off their dad and lose the car they thought was theirs.

Consider this a cheap lesson. Divorce him. Let him have the car and you save your money to find another. Disconnect and move on.

Good thing you found out while you're young. Trust me, this is gonna be the cheapest decision you'll ever make. Now you don't have to support him in the old-folks home.

it'll be difficult to prove, if your dad's named as the owner, that you bought it for yourself - even with evidence from your brother in law, you could technically have bought it for your father, and now be pissed off at him and want it back... i'd imagine it'd be difficult to prove legally either way

Go to your local police department and report the vehicle as stole property. If you have proof you bought and paid for it you shouldn't have a problem, explain the situation.
